Overview
To deliver Takealot orders, apply to the TFS On-Demand driver network. TFS is Takealot Group's delivery network. Its drivers deliver for Takealot, Mr D and other brands.
TFS says it has over 15,000 independent drivers. It says you can pick shifts including nights and weekends, keep 100% of your tips, and take daily, weekly or bi-weekly payouts.
Most drivers bring their own car or bike. The form offers No Transport, and choosing it does not end the application. But Takealot offers no rental and does not say what work follows. Ask a branch before you count on it.
Takealot lists no minimum age.

Application process
The application is one online form. It asks for your details, a selfie, your vehicle, your licence, your bank details, your address and the region you want to work in. Then it gives you an interview time slot.
Takealot Group's TFS page has an Apply now button. When we followed it on 6 September 2026 it went to Mr D's driver page instead of a Takealot form. The link on this page goes straight to the Takealot driver onboarding form.
Take clear photos of these before you start. The form photographs each one and reads the details off it, so a blurry photo means starting again:
- Your ID book, ID card, South African passport or other passport.
- Your work permit or asylum document, if you are not a South African citizen.
- Your driving licence card, front and back.
- Your vehicle licence disc.
- A proof of address document with your name on it.
- A recent bank statement, or a proof of banking letter.
Four answers end the application straight away:
- You do not have an Android phone on version 7 or later. iPhone is not supported.
- You have been convicted of a criminal offence.
- You do not consent to a criminal record check.
- You do not accept the terms or the driver privacy policy.
You also pick a shift pattern: full time Monday to Sunday, full time nights, Friday nights, or weekends. TFS says payouts can be daily, weekly or every two weeks.
Vehicles
| Vehicle | Accepted | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| No vehicle | Depends | The form offers No Transport and does not end the application if you choose it. Takealot does not say what work follows, or any rental option, so ask before you count on it. |
| Bicycle | No | The form's only two-wheel option is Bike / Scooter, which means a motorbike or scooter. There is no pedal-bicycle option. |
| Scooter | Yes | Covered by the Bike / Scooter option. |
| Motorbike | Yes | The form's vehicle options are Car, Bike / Scooter and No Transport. |
| Car | Yes | Covered by the Car option. |
| Bakkie | Not confirmed | Not named. The form offers only Car, Bike / Scooter or No Transport, so you would have to enter a bakkie as a car. Ask your branch. |
| Van | Not confirmed | Not named. The form offers only Car, Bike / Scooter or No Transport. |
| Truck | Not confirmed | Not mentioned. |

Can foreign nationals apply?
The form's identity options are a South African green ID book, a South African ID card, a South African passport, or another country's passport. If you are not a South African citizen it also asks you to photograph a work permit or asylum document. So the passport is not enough on its own.
Pingo and Uber Eats also name an asylum-related document, each in slightly different words.
The form does not name a refugee status document or an international driving permit. Ask the branch before you spend money.
This is Takealot's upload list. Whether you may work depends on your permit.
Do I need my own vehicle?
Usually. The form asks whether you have a vehicle to drive, and its vehicle options are Car, Bike / Scooter or No Transport. Choosing No Transport does not end the application.
But Takealot lists no rental or fleet option, and it does not say what work is available to a driver without transport. Treat it as a question to ask, not a route you can rely on.
